The Colca Valley is located to the northeast of Arequipa to 5 hours. In this circuit we can enjoy an Andean landscape where you will see native animals of the area, like lamas, alpacas, vicunas and the impressive flight of the condors, being the largest tourist attraction. There are also churches, like the Church of the 17th century, its history and architecture of the period of the Spanish colony, plus the fauna and the flora of different ecological zones are unbelievable. You can enjoy the end of the natural water pools and medicinal hot water, it is only in the Flight of the Condors Tour.
The origin of this valley is due to a failure of the Earth’s crust, eroded by thousands of years by the longest river in the Peruvian coast. The Colca River reaches depths of up to 3.400 meters in both slopes and over 200 km long.
AREQUIPA - RESERVE CRUZ OF CONDOR - SAN JUAN OF CHUCCO
Very early, at 4:00 am, we will go to the Cruz del Condor where you can appreciate some of the world’s deepest canyons. We can also see the majestic flight of the condors birds, venerated by the Incas, for a period of 2 hours.
At time indicated and we will continue to Chivay (breakfast), then we descend to the town of Cabanaconde look around and e descend to the community of San Juan of Chucco (2,200m), where we will camp.
SAN JUAN OF CHUCCO - TAPAY - SHANGALLY (OASIS)
At one hour indicated, we will rise for about an hour to the town of Tapy, a small town where we can share some experiences with the people, then descend to the community of Cosnirhua, where we can appreciate different kinds of crops and fruit trees.
We continue to a flat walk to the village of Malata (2,450 m), where we can appreciate a 17th century church which still retains its colonial characteristics and share some experiences with the people and children.
We are going to the Shangally village (oasis), where we can enjoy the pool and a lunch. The afternoon is free to explore the surroundings and enjoy the Oasis and the camping lodge.
SHANGALLY (OASIS) - CABACONDE - CHIVAY - AREQUIPA
After the breakfast, we continue rising to Cabanaconde for 2 hours until the meeting with the community, a start time to board tour buses to Chivay, we will visit the surrounding area and then continue to White city of Arequipa.
